Does anyone listen to the books from graphicaudio.net? They take books and kind of turn them in to a movie with sound effects, actors, it's pretty cool.
They do a lot of westerns, but they have some romance, some stuff about DC Commics (Batman, Green Lantern, ETC), they have horror too.
I just thought I'd throw this out there for people to check out. They're books range anywhere from 5 to 8 hours long, and they cost like $13 a book. Well worth it in my oppinion.

I've definitely heard of them. Not sure if I've listened to any of them or not, but I've heard samples, and it's pretty interesting.

I think I saw on Facebook where one of my favorite authors, Robert McCammon, just had a book released on Graphic Audio that NLS doesn't have. I'm planning on checking it out.

I know that the iphone app is accessible, but I haven't heard any of their books.

I do enjoy their books. I haven't gotten any recent ones, but did love watching the Demon wars saga. Listening even.

Simply put, if you are a fan of audiobooks, and the genres Graphicaudio works with, do yourself a favor and check out their site. it's www.graphicaudio.net. I promise you will not be disappointed. I've been a fan of Graphicaudio since about 2007, and they are absolutely incredible. They have free samples of all their titles so you can have an idea of what you're getting into. They also have a few free stories, such as Perfect Shadow by Brent Weeks. it's from the Night Angel Trilogy, which is a spectacular fantasy series.

Simply having it explained what Graphicaudio does isn't enough. It's best to really listen to their work, with headphones. They use a cast of really talented actors, along with original music and sound effects. But unlike radio dramas, they keep the "novel" portion of their books. They adapt it to a point, cutting out the he-said she-said stuff, but otherwise they're pretty faithful to their written counterparts. They have released novels in a wide range of genres, and there is literally something for just about anyone.

Do they have any of the classic literature stuff?

Post 8 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 17-Jan-2014 22:52:14

Can you define classic literature?

Post 9 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 18-Jan-2014 23:36:15

For example like Sherlock holmes type stuff, Shakespeare, Charles dickens.. well, those are my 3 faves. and the ones I mostly read I'm afraid

No, they do not have any of that yet unfortunately. They did do a Frankenstein book, but it's not complete. They never finished it. I'll let you know if any of that stuff comes out though. :) I'm trying to remember, they did do some other famous book I think that just isn't coming to me. I'll keep you posted.

They did the gospel of Mark, which was generally quite well-done. Aside from that, none I'm aware of. As stained said, they were working on Frankenstein, as well as Bram Stoker's Dracula, but for some reason they weren't completed. Unfortunate too since the trailers were pretty decent. They mostly cater to the Sci-fi, Fantasy, western, post Apocaalyptic and comics crowds. Aside from their - in my opinion - oddball promotional skits at times, Graphicaudio's only real problem is they're still catering particularly to truck drivers. It's gotten a lot better in the last couple years, but it's still a small market. That said, I've discovered some really spectacular authors I wouldn't have otherwise heard of, such as Brandon Sanderson, Brent Weeks, Peter V. Brett, Simon R. Green and Elizabeth Moon just to name a few. I would like to see them expand their genres, but given how most large books (3 parts) end up costing around $42, I suppose it's best for me if they only come out with around twenty titles I want every bloody year.:)

lol gotcha..thanks! that is a shame they don't do more of the famous stuff..

My main issues with them come down to production. There are times someone will mess
up a line or just deliver a performance that makes me ask, why they didn't go back and
do it again.
Beyond that, I think to often they use sound effects that either don't fit at all or, over
emphasize the violence beyond what the text would indicate.
Those things being said, I like them more than I don't.

Post 15 by Remy (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 10-Aug-2014 20:02:20

Mostly I find their performances pretty even. Every so often someone will deliver a line which makes me wonder the same thing. I think it likely comes down to time. Every production is bound to have an oops here or there. Heck even big blockbusters have them. The sheer amount of material these people produce probably makes it easy to mess a couple things up. I will agree about the violent sound effects though, especially in their earlier material. It's gotten a bit better though. At least so far as I've heard.

My biggest problem is the price. They produce serieses, and each book (or in the case of full novels, part of the book costs $14US. It gets expensive, and their prices have increased from $10 in 2008. I get as they grow and produce more costs will raise, but I think they could just market better. They're still geared more towards truckers, though they are getting a bit better. Either way I really enjoy what they're doing, and it's enspired me to work on my own projects in a similar style, which is a lot of fun.

I get that. Still for myself I think I prefer to either read myself, or have a good single
reader.

Yes, that entire series was spectacular. His Black Prism series (also on GA) is equally as good. The Demon Cycle by P. V. Brett is likewise brilliant, taking a familiar idea and making it refreshing and original.
